Mini Metal Bonsai, by Suwada
A handmade mini tree, to keep at home or in the office. It is small enough to stand on your palm and cute enough to inspire your positive thinking every time you look at it.
Taking on the challenge of creating art objects while reducing waste was not easy. Instead of simply discarding items some of our artisans used the ''waste'' to create forms representing the Japanese culture and heritage. The art of bonsai is deeply rooted in Japanese culture. The art of metal bonsai is very new.
The first metal bonsai was made in suwada in the 2010s. Ever since then, the artisans working on this project have formed a team to create ever more elaborate forms.
What it brings to you:
Designed to bring a little zen into your home, this tree is made 100% by hand, using the extra material from the "blanking step" during the production of Suwada's nail nippers. The material is separated, reheated, and shaped by hand, piece by piece. As a result, every tree is a little different.

This is a piece of decoration, best viewed in open spaces. If you want to create a wall that serves as a background for video calls or photography you can arrange multiple trees on different shelves and create an interesting view. Bonsai art is about representing nature on a small scale. Metal bonsai is about representing the real tree through a different material.
A little rust is normal, and part of the design. It is meant to showcase the growth of the tree's bark and its mellow aging as a natural process.
