SUWADA Classic Nail Nipper
If you use nippers, you will be surprised with the looks and performance of this model.
Handmade, with sharp curved blades that make a clean cut, without straining the nail.
Made of high-carbon stainless steel, the same material used to forge custom-made Japanese kitchen knives. They are strong, rustproof, and easy to maintain.
Hand polished to a matt finish by Japanese craftsmen. After gathering three design awards it quickly became the most popular tool for nail artists in Tokyo and Osaka. The matt finish by Suwada has now become an industry standard for such tools, impossible to replicated by automated machines.
The blade opening is between 17 and 20mm, making it useful to safely clean dirty nails underneath.
The lines on the handles are designed to improve stability, making sure the skin never comes in contact with the blades.
It comes with a metal case for safe storage.
Caution: the blades are very sharp indeed and fully aligned. Keep away from kids and do not use on anything other that nails.
How to use a nipper like a beauty salon professional
Cut your nails after a bath or a warm shower so that they are softer than usual. Alternatively soak your fingers or toes in warm water for 5-10 minutes.
Hold the nipper firmly on one hand and decide what shape you want your nails to have. Make small cuts around the nail, without going very close to the skin. Don't cut too much and always allow a little room between the edge of your nail and the soft finger tissue below it, especially near the corners of the nail. Let the corners grow more if you are experiencing ingrown nails.
If you use a Suwada nipper you won't need to file your nails afterwards. The cut is very smooth, thanks to the hard material and the blades alignment.

Man Made
All our products are made by artisans in Suwada Open Factory, in Niigata, Japan. The factory is open to the public without reservations to ensure transparency for all our claims.
In rare cases we collaborate with local companies to promote a product that we think you will love. In those cases we ensure that the companies adhere 100% to our highest standards of employee work conditions and traditional methods for crafting goods.
Once an object is made in Suwada, it is taken through extensive testing to ensure quality and durability. We hold the highest quality control standards possible, checking all items, one by one.
Craftsmanship is at the core of our model, and we make sure our craftspeople have great lives, high salaries and are able to expand their knowledge in their field when they wish to do so. This approach of continuous learning has pushed traditional crafts to a whole new level, and has permitted Suwada to train a new generation of men and women in Japanese metal crafts. We absolutely oppose machine made goods that can be made better by hand, and poor working conditions that treat people as if they are product making machines.
Our prices reflect humanist ideals. When you buy Suwada, you buy quality. You support vibrant communities of craftspeople, who design and make useful and beautiful objects, that will improve your everyday life, and carry a little of their maker's spirit in them. When you buy Suwada, you reaffirm all humanist values and virtues, and you chose unique over common.
